Warwickshire residents urged to donate a coat to Age UK

WARM-hearted residents are being urged to donate a coat to Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire.

As part of the charity’s ‘Winter Health’ campaign, it is calling on the local community to donate winter warmer items to help older people stay warm during the colder months.

Colder weather can make it harder for older people to get out and about, increasing feelings of loneliness and impacting health and wellbeing. Spending more time at home also leads to higher energy bills and, combined with the cost-of-living crisis, places extra pressure on those already struggling. An estimated 1.9 million older people across the UK will face this winter in poverty.

Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire spokesperson Kaljit Madahar said: “It’s a crisis hiding in plain sight. As costs rise and temperatures fall, many older people are facing winter in the cold. Your donation of a winter warmer item can make an immediate difference to someone in need.”
