Dogs Trust Kenilworth's four legged TV star looks for his forever home

ONE of the four-legged stars of the new series of Pete Wicks: For Dogs Sake is hoping 2026 is the year he’ll find his forever home.

Gelert, the Belgian Malinois puppy, was born at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in March 2025, and while his siblings have all successfully been rehomed, this young pooch is still waiting for his forever home and is hoping his star appearance alongside Pete Wicks will find him the perfect family.

As a young Belgian Malinois, Gelert, known as Santino on the show, is an energetic and lively pup. To help him make the most of that energy, the Dogs Trust Kenilworth team has spent the past few months teaching him how to manage his size and enthusiasm, when to relax, and the best ways to keep him mentally and physically stimulated.

Gelert has discovered how much he loves search and scent games that keep his brain stimulated, which helps manage the energy levels and behaviours of a young pup, and shows off his playful nature and natural curiosity.

Thanks to this training (and his love of treats), Gelert is ready to find his forever home, and hopes he will be able to find his forever home with active adopters who can take the time to help him continue his training, keep him active, and keep him physically and mentally stimulated.

Emma-Jane Thomas, manager at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, said: “Gelert is a lovely puppy who, with some guidance and training, will continue to grow into an amazing and rewarding companion.

“He’s looking for an active, adult-only home where he can be the only pet and settle in at his own pace. Gelert would thrive with adopters who can give him a job to do and channel his drive and determination into activities like flyball, canicross or agility work.

“Finding a forever home would be the perfect ending for this TV Star, and with the right adopters, patience, and dedication, we’re confident Gelert will settle into his forever home and feel more comfortable with the big wide world.”
