LEAMINGTON saw their midweek fixture against Buxton abandoned at half time due to floodlight failure.

With the Brakes trailing one-nil at the interval, four of the floodlights at the Your Co-op Community Stadium failed due to a power outage.

However, despite a delay of more than an hour, the referee eventually abandoned the fixture after the floodlights did not come back on.

Buxton were leading 1-0 at the time of the abandonment after Johnny Johnston struck from close range in first-half injury time.

The fixture is the second Brakes game to end in an abandonment this season.

Leamington also saw their match at AFC Fylde abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch in the second half back in September.

The Brakes trailed 4-0 in that fixture but managed to come away with a 1-1 draw in the rescheduled match.

A date for the club’s rearranged match against Buxton will be announced in due course.

The Brakes remain 10 points from safety at the bottom of the National League North table but with games in hand on the teams above the drop zone.

Leamington are next in action against Curzon Ashton on Saturday, January 24 with kick-off at 3pm at the Your Co-op Community Stadium.
