FINGERS were crossed for gold when Leamington was visited by the Heart of England in Bloom judges.
They were in town on Thursday (July 9) to assess whether Leamington should retain its Gold Award in the Small City category.
The Leamington in Bloom Partnership, supported by Leamington Town Council, hosted the judges at the town hall, where they were presented with the annual Leamington in Bloom portfolio, an in-depth overview of green projects, initiatives and developments that have taken place over the past year.
The judges were then taken on a comprehensive tour of green spaces around Leamington, including Trinity School, Brookhurst Primary School, RLS Nursing Home, Packington Place Pocket Park, Brunswick Hub Secret Garden, Charles Gardner Street planters, Black Bridge, Paintings Plantation, St Mary’s Allotment site, Mill Gardens, and concluding at the iconic Jephson Gardens.
This year’s tour showcased a diverse range of projects, with each green space highlighting different community involvement from pupils, care home residents, local community groups and residents of Leamington.
The tour concluded with lunch at the Windmill Inn, where the deputy mayor Coun Savita Lekhi thanked the members of the Leamington in Bloom Partnership.
In the portfolio introduction, town mayor Coun Sarah Boad, said: “This collaboration highlights the immense pride and enjoyment our residents take in the town’s green spaces.
Our community gardening, conservation and environmental projects continue to foster strong connections while providing lasting benefits for everyone.
The Partnership is hoping to achieve its ninth consecutive Gold Award when the judging results are announced.
