A 65-YEAR-OLD pedestrian had to be airlifted to hospital after a collision with a car in Southam.

The woman was walking along Coventry Street around 11.30am on Tuesday (December 30) when she came into collision with a white Mercedes sprinter van.

Emergency services including the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were called to the scene while an off duty paramedic also stopped to help treat the patient.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a van and a pedestrian that had been in a collision.

“The woman suffered multiple serious injuries and received emergency treatment at the scene from medics.”

She was airlifted to University Hospital for further emergency treatment.

The driver of the Mercedes Sprinter has already assisted police with their inquires but officers are also keen to speak to the occupant of a Land Rover who stopped at the scene to help.

He is described as a large white balding man.

Anyone else with information is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101.
