Canalside contemplation area opens in Warwick

Leamington Editorial 26th Jun, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

MUSEFUL residents in Warwick have a new place to ponder their thoughts.

Crafted from six old lock gates, the ‘contemplation area’ has been built by the Saltisford Canal Trust at its gardens off Budbrooke Road to mark 30 years since the charity was formed.

Dozens of volunteers worked on the project which includes benches, wheelchair access, Wi-Fi internet access and heritage information.

The 3.5 tonne oak locks – donated by the Canal and River Trust – have been hand restored to form the centre-piece of the tranquil space.
