Police investigate suspected child abduction

Leamington Editorial 24th Mar, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

A MUM was left terrified after a man attempted to take her two-year-old son from his pushchair in Leamington town centre.

The incident happened outside Poundland on The Parade around 10.30am on Monday (March 23) when she stepped to one side to throw rubbish in a nearby litter bin.

As she turned round she saw the man trying to unclip the youngster and there was a brief verbal exchange before he crossed the road toward Tesco.

He is described as 5ft 10in tall, of slim build with a shaved head and was wearing jeans and a dark leather jacket at the time.

The mum reported the incident to Warwickshire Police later the same day and officers are now studying CCTV footage but would like to hear from anyone who was near Poundland at the time or who saw anything which may help them find the man.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
