Secret garden for Warwick Hospital patients

GREEN-fingered patients can enjoy the great outdoors even when they are in hospital.

Warwick Hospital has opened a ‘secret garden’ in a bid to improve the health and well-being of patients.

It has been created after the success of similar gardens at Ellen Badger and Leamington Hospital.

The garden aims to make people more aware of where their food comes from and how easy it is to grow at home.

South Warwickshire Foundation Trust director of development Jayne Blacklay said: “It is fantastic to see the garden now it has been transformed into such a pleasant space and I want to thank our staff and partners whose hard work has made it possible.

“At this hospital we are here to treat and support people when they are ill but we also have an important role to play in helping to promote healthy lifestyles.

“We want to help people understand what they can do to keep healthy and this garden provides a real opportunity for us to spread the word about eating healthy food and keeping fit and well.”
