LEAMINGTON has its first Banksy-style street art – at least for a short while.
A giant hammer has been spray-painted on the wall of a derilict building in Russell Street which is earmarked to be converted into flats.
Created in a day, the work by artists who go by the names Dynamick and NUM3, aims to entertain, and it is hoped people will have their photo taken underneath the huge hammer.
Warwickshire-based Brink Contemporary Arts were commissioned to carry out the work by Arts Trail Gallery in Leamington
Brink Curator Tim Robottom said: “We are honoured to have the opportunity to install the very first street art mural in the county, as ambassadors for contemporary culture and urban art in its many forms we believe this will be a welcome addition to the arts scene both locally and nationally.”
The work will not be permanent as the building is set to be turned into retirement apartments.
