A POPULAR patient at Leamington Hospital inspired friends and colleagues to raise almost £2,000 in his honour.
Staff at WM Housing Group have been raising funds for the Central England Rehabilitation Unit (CERU) after Stephen Collins suffered a brain injury in June and was admitted to the unit.
Stephen, who worked for the group since leaving school, was presented with the cheque by group engineering services manager Jeff Scott at a special lunch at CERU.
Jeff said: “We all care about Stephen and we wanted to do our bit to help. We held raffles, a golf tournament, sold blackout cards and more, the staff really pulled out all the stops.
“Even our contractors were asking how they could help raise money for Stephen.”
Sue Bleasdale, General Manager at CERU, said the unit was grateful for the donation.
She added: “Stephen is very popular with everyone here at the hospital so it is no surprise to see people going to such lengths to raise money on his behalf.”
