WHITNASH will light up in the spirit of Christmas this weekend as the annual switch-on event takes place this Sunday (December 4).
Organised by volunteers from Whitnash Town Council with the support of friends and family, the fun all starts at 4pm outside the Plough and Harrow pub.
The show will open with carols sung by the town’s church choir with two bands, various dance groups and popular magician John Gordon providing entertainment throughout the night.
Father Christmas himself will be taking time out of his busy schedule to pay a visit to the event which will also feature a range of fairground rides and attractions including a bouncy castle and bottle and chocolate tombola.
Whitnash Mayor Councillor Simon Button will be on hand to assist Father Christmas with the big switch on at 6pm which will be followed by the traditional house light switch on – where the best lit ‘Christmas House’ will be awarded a prize by the Town Council.
Mr Button thanked sponsors Phillips 66 Jet for their support in funding the event, Sigourney Gowlett and her team at the New Plough Harrow, Adrian from Booths Electrics and Dave Herbert from Whitnash Homes & Gardens.
