Giant eight foot bear is guarding Warwick Castle's Bear Tower

Leamington Editorial 27th Mar, 2017   0

A GIANT eight foot bear is guarding Warwick Castle’s aptly named Bear Tower.

The sculpture has been erected ahead of Kirstie Allsopp’s Handmade Fair in May and is the creation of weaving artist Juliette Hamilton.

The piece which took her one month to make and weighs a mighty 50kg represents Warwickshire’s iconic county emblem.

The fair takes place at Ragley Hall near Alcester from May 12 to 14.

As well as featuring over 150 exhibitors selling their craft wares, the fair programme will include live ‘craft-offs’ from some of the UK’s best-known makers and experts, and a series of hands-on workshops where visitors can learn new skills such as willow weaving, upholstery, needle-felting and calligraphy.

TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp, will be joined by skincare specialist Liz Earle, British designer and Great British Sewing Bee

judge Patrick Grant, and potter and judge on the Great Pottery Throw Down Keith Brymer-Jones.
