A FLOOD summit will be looking at ways of holding back the waters in Warwickshire.

The free to attend ‘Warwickshire Flood Strategy – is it working? event will be offering information and advice at Stratford Artshouse on April 1, from 10am to 4.30pm.

The Environment Agency (EA), Severn Trent Water and the National Flood Forum will all be attending.

Demonstrations on the Avon will include displays of a new temporary flood defence barrier, an emergency response vehicle and a Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service boat and equipment among others.

Stalls at the Artshouse will cover everything from planning and development, maintenance and natural flood management.

There will also be a question and answer session with an expert panel following a brief presentation on the Warwickshire flood strategy.

Peter Clarke from the Environment Agency said: “We’re particularly keen to work with communities during the neighbourhood planning stage of our work. By working together, we can embed what we need for the future with what communities want as well.”

Warwickshire County Council spokesman Coun Philip Johnson added: “It’s vital that Warwickshire County Council continues to put in place measures to mitigate the effects of flooding. It’s great to see the flood summit bring together all the key organisations to keep residents informed on this issue.
