Hackney Colliery Band play Warwick Arts Centre

Leamington Editorial 13th Apr, 2017   0

THE HACKNEY Colliery Band will be getting in the groove at Warwick Arts Centre on May 10.

The East London collective – a tour de force of trumpets, trombones, saxes, sousaphone, marching percussion and electronics – continue to reinvent the brass band sound for the 21st century

The band are as inspired by contemporary rock and electronica as they are New Orleans marching bands and the traditional British brass bands, and their energy-fuelled live shows have won them fans the world over.

They sprinkle their sets of original songs with their own unique take on eeverything from Nirvan’s Heart-Shaped Box to Tototo’s Africa – the latter sometimes finding them congaing with the audience.

Their latest studio album Sharpener was released to critical acclaim last summer, and they are just about to release a a live album, imaginatively called The Hackney Colliery Band Live.
