Charity providing safe water for school in Ghana

A WARWICKSHIRE charity is helping to provide safe water for a school in Ghana.

Compassion Direct UK (CDUK) is raising money to renovate Kyebi Primary School which collects its water from rainfall, or from a stream used by animals.

The project aims to provide a well, a hand water pump and to repair the floors and fabric of the building in order to fit water harvesting tanks and solar panels for electricity.

Chairman Ros Grant said: “Schoolchildren in many parts of Ghana have yet to see and touch a computer, despite having to participate in examinations in communication technology examinations with their peers elsewhere in the country. If CDUK is able to repair the building and roof and give the school solar panels they will have a source of power to enable them to have a computer in the school.”

The charity is staging a sponsored walk on Sunday October 22. The four mile circular walk over Edge Hill starts and finishes at the Herb Center, at Warmington, setting off at 2pm.
