Councillors set to approve build of 260 homes on Gallows Hill

COUNCILLORS are set to approve plans to build 260 homes on Gallows Hill.

Developers William Davis and Hallam Land Management applied to build on the site, which is situated between Warwick Technology Park and Banbury Road.

It forms part of a larger plan to build some 630 homes in the area.

A number of objections have been received by Warwick District Council, which has recommended that councillors approve the application at a meeting on Tuesday (October 10).

Warwick Town Council and Bishop’s Tachbrook Parish Council both say they are concerned about overdevelopment of the area.

Some 35 residents contacted the council to echo their concerns and say the homes would put too much pressure on infrastructure and harm the historic town.

Warwickshire County Council landscape officers also say they were worried the homes would be seen by from the Warwick Castle.

A spokesman said: “The design criteria appear to have moved away from the original intention to protect views from the higher parts of the castle. Instead the emphasis appears to have become centred on the vista of the castle from the site itself.”

But the district council say the homes form part of the local plan and are in keeping with their policies, which will see more than 17,000 homes built across the district.
