Generous donation sees new wheelchairs for hospital

Leamington Editorial 11th Nov, 2017   0

FELDON Ward at Leamington Hospital has new wheelchairs thanks to a generous donation.

Leamington Round Table and 41 Club made the £3,200 donation with funds bequeathed by Leamington man Harry Prue.

Harry received seasonal food parcels from the Round Table in the 1960s and subsequently left some of his estate to the group in his will when he died in 1967. Over the next 49 years the invested money grew to over £14,000.

Some of this money was donated to the hospital, which used it to buy new wheelchairs on the stroke unit.

Occupational Therapist Bridgit Vorster-Gibbons said: “Wheelchairs enable patients to access the therapy gym, the garden and outdoors, also our cafe and social activities in the hospital.

“These will be so useful to allow our patients undergoing treatment to move freely around the hospital.”
