Leamington Editorial 28th Mar, 2018   0

A TURNER Prize winner will be showcasing and talking about her work at the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum.

Lubaina Himid – who became the oldest winner of the art award last year at the age of 63 – makes theatrical and challenging works addressing colonial history, racism and and slavery.

Her work will feature in the exhibition ‘About Face’ which runs at the Little Elborow Street venue from March 30 to June 16.

And Lubaina will join fellow artist Claudette Johnson – also featuring work in the exhibition – on the Friday May 25 for the gallery’s ‘In Conversation’ event.

About Face focuses on portraiture and also includes works from the National Portrait Gallery by artistic giants including Lucien Freud and Eduardo Paolozzo.

And featured artist Winston Branch will also discuss his life and work in ‘Never Staying Still’ at the gallery on Saturday April 7, from 1pm to 3pm.
