Grandmother raising money to help disabled youngster communicate

A ‘SELFLESS’ grandmother is braving the shave and holding a fund-raising event to help a disabled youngster communicate.

Gill Bowell from Harbury is raising money for her friend’s son – three year-old Oliver Locket, who suffers from cerebral palsy. The youngster lives in Dorset with his parents, but mum Sophie previously lived in Harbury.

Gill hopes to help raise £2,000 towards £6,500 needed for an eye gaze machine – which would help the youngster communicate.

And on Saturday (September 15) the 55-year-old will shave off her shoulder-length hair in a bid to secure donations.

At Harbury Village Club between noon and 3pm she there will also be a number of stalls available and a raffle.

The grandmother-of-five said: “I fell in love with this little boy and the family can’t get the help they need from anywhere so I wanted to do something selfless to help. Anything raised will go directly to the family for the eye gaze machine. I appreciate all help and support.”
