Free car park set to double in size and be fitted with parking meters

Leamington Editorial 18th Sep, 2018   0

A FREE car park at Leamington’s Victoria Park does not look set to be free for much longer – and could double in size.

The car park off Archery Road, next to the park, currently has space for 30 vehicles.

But Warwick District Council hopes to increase the number of parking spaces to 64 in a bid to make up for some of the temporary losses during the building of a new car park at Covent Garden as part of the council’s new headquarter plans.

It plans to remove some trees to make way for the new spaces, along with new asphalt surfacing, payment machines, lighting, CCTV cameras and parking bays.

The council said the changes would improve the car park and create a ‘long-term’ improvement.
