PLANS for a multiple occupancy house in Leamington are set to go ahead despite an ‘avalanche’ of objections.
The application to register the four-bedroomed property on Greatheed Road as an HMO has prompted safety fears for children at the nearby Milverton Primary School.
Neighbours are concerned additional cars would bring more traffic and lead to parking problems putting children at risk.
Other fears include the building – which has a history of burglaries – becoming even more of a target for thieves as well as an increase in noise and rubbish.
One objection reads: “The additional traffic and parking will put children at even more risk. There have already been a number of near misses with children walking to school due to double parking.
But the applicant said only two cars were currently used by residents at the property and blamed congestion and parking problems on the school.
He suggested the sudden ‘avalanche’ of objections had been orchestrated by ‘residents from various streets unconnected to traffic concerns’ on the road in question.
Planning officers concluded parking or highway safety problems were not cause to deny the application and waste storage was ‘adequate’.
The application was set to be approved at a meeting yesterday (Wednesday).
