Residents rubbish overflowing bins at Newbold Comyn

OVERFLOWING bins at Leamington’s Newbold Comyn should soon be a thing of the past.

Residents have complained about the mounting rubbish at popular country park and former golf course.

But Warwick District Council has now employed a new contractor to empty the bins on a weekly basis.

A resident who contacted The Observer said: “Not emptying the bins is a serious health hazard due to the amount of people using the ex-golf course.

“The council has been informed on numerous occasions but has done nothing. Answers we have received are insulting – one was ‘just use another bin’.”

But Warwick District Council says the situation has now been resolved.

A spokeswoman said: “There has been a change of contract for the emptying of the litter bins on Newbold Comyn golf course. The new contractor is in place and the litter bins will be emptied on a weekly basis.”

The future of the 300 acre park has been a subject of debate since the closure of the golf course shut in 2017. A review over its future is on-going, but any sort of of housing development has been ruled out by council chiefs.
