Life-saving charity in Warwickshire receives funding boost

A FUNDING boost will help Warwickshire Search and Rescue continue its life-saving work.

The charity was awarded £1,000 thanks to nominations from the public as part of insurer Ecclesiastical’s festive giving campaign.

Members of the public were invited to nominate a charity to win a share of £120,000, and Warwickshire Search and Rescue was among the winners which were drawn at random.

Charity chair Ian Malins added: “Warwickshire Search and Rescue are delighted to have secured a grant of £1,000 from Ecclesiatical – Movement For Good’s 12 days of Christmas.

“This is thanks to our supporters who have nominated us through social media during the festive period enabling us to get this grant. The grant is really welcomed at this time as our ability to fundraise has been severely curtailed during the pandemic as all our face to face fundraising opportunities were postponed.

“As well as supporting Warwickshire Police and West Midlands Police in missing person searches, our team of volunteers has over the last nine months also supported Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, the local council resilience forums, the Trussell Trust and Morrisons with food parcel deliveries and logistical support. This grant will help to keep our service operational until we can resume our normal fundraising activities.”
