PERMISSION looks set to be granted to extend an HMO in Leamington.
Residents and councillors have expressed concerns over a lack of private space in the house in Charlotte Street.
The owner has applied for two additional bedrooms which will allow for up to six residents.
Around 20 objections have been received from the public who say there is already a high concentration of HMOs in the area and it is impacting existing residents.
One resident commented: “The ratio of HMOs to family houses is extremely high in the neighbourhood surrounding this property and the density of occupation by transient tenants is also very high.
“It is not acceptable to increase the adverse effect on the character and cohesion of the neighbourhood by adding two bedrooms at this address.”
Proposals for a parking space to the rear of the property were scrapped following concerns over limited space posing a risk to the prospective resident and road users.
A survey for on-street parking availability followed and the report concluded space was sufficient.
However residents disagree.
The objector added: “As cars can’t be parked behind the property, this proposal will put additional pressure on a neighbourhood already suffering significant levels of parking stress.”
A decision will be made at a planning meeting on Tuesday March 1.
