Talisman Theatre present The King's Speech

Leamington Editorial 1st Apr, 2022   0

THE KING’S Speech is brought to the stage of Kenilworth’s Talisman Theatre next month.

The play, running from April 11 to 16, tells the story of King George VI – the man who never expected to be King. After the abdication of his brother, he reluctantly took his place just before the Second World War.

The King has to overcome personal issues of self-worth in a brave feat of public speaking and attempting to overcome his stammer while addressing his people.

After the King has seen various speech therapists, and knowing the country needs her husband to be able to communicate effectively, his wife Elizabeth finds a very unconventional speech therapist in Lionel Louge.

An extraordinary friendship develops between the two men, as Logue uses unusual means to teach the monarch how to speak with confidence.
