POLICE have released a CCTV image of a cyclist they would like to speak to after a woman was assaulted in Leamington.

The woman was cycling on the canal towpath on Old Warwick Road at around 7.45am on Sunday (July 16) when she was approached by a male cyclist who repeatedly punched her to the head.

The suspect then left on his bike in the direction of Myton Road.

He is described as a white man, aged between 25 and 30, around 5 feet 8 and of large build, wearing a red shirt and no cycling helmet.

Detective Constable Mike Woodland from Leamington CID said: “This is a concerning incident which has left the victim understandably shaken, and she is currently being supported by specialist officers. A number of enquiries are now under way to identify and locate the suspect.

“We believe the man in the image may have information that could help with our enquiries.
