Girls get golfing in Stratford

GIRLS are getting into golf in Stratford.

Stratford Golf Club is taking part in England Golf’s ‘Girls Golf Rocks’ programme, which is about encouraging beginner girls aged from five to 18 years to learn and play golf in a fun and friendly way.

The private members’ club, which welcomes juniors, is staging two free one-hour taster sessions for girls on June 29 from 1pm until 3pm, organised by the professional golf team.

The taster sessions are also a great way of trying golf before signing up to a further six hours of tuition in July and August.

There are just 16 places available, on a first-come-first served basis, which can be reserved by registering an interest and booking a slot via the England Golf website at

Hilda Craig, Ladies’ captain at Stratford Golf Club ,said: “This is a great way for girls to get into golf and our PGA Professional, Julian Dodsworth and his team create an environment where they feel comfortable and confident to join in the initial sessions, with the opportunity and a clear pathway for them to continue their participation.”

The Girls Golf Rocks programme is running nationally across England with around 200 host clubs/facilities taking part.
