A HIGH-flying Myton School student is now among the youngest licenced pilots in the world.

Shivryan Singh Dulay recently gained his private pilot’s licence (PPL) aged 17 at Wellesbourne Airfield.

The Whitnash resident began his flying training with South Warwickshire Flying School when he was 14.

His new licence allows him to fly light aircraft internationally either solo or with passengers.

Shivryan – who intends to pursue a career in civil aviation – said: “During the course of my PPL, especially at South Warwickshire Flying School, the art of airmanship and aviating is what I would like to think as the celestial grace of perceiving the world at an unique angle, especially when it comes to understanding and learning the aviation industry over time. “Ever since I began this journey on my 14th birthday, I have been captivated by the euphoria and the exhilaration of flying.

“I am overjoyed at this magnificent success of mine, especially when it comes to mind that I may also be among the world’s youngest Sikh pilot. At the moment, I am unsure of any younger pilots than me.”

The teenager is studying A Levels in physics, chemistry, biology, computer science and maths.

He added: “This licence marks the dawn of a new journey for me. Initially, at the time of starting my flying training, it was only a wish for me to fly as a hobby.

“Only when I experienced the first flight with my wonderful instructor, Richard Brew, I knew my wish had not soared enough through the skies – my new heading had been fixed on obtaining the commercial pilot licence and much more.”
