Leamington Editorial 15th May, 2022   0

RESIDENTS in the district are gearing for street parties to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over the June Bank Holiday weekend.

Warwick District Council (WDC) and partners will be closing more than 30 roads to accommodate street parties and jubilee celebrations taking place across all four towns from Friday June 3 to Saturday June 5.

Residents in Lillington have been meeting regularly to share tips and inspiration to ensure a successful street party, and gathered for a photo recently to mark this special occasion.

WDC leader Coun Andrew Day said: “I’m delighted that our teams have pulled out all the stops to ensure that residents are able to celebrate this unique moment in history, coming together as a community after a difficult couple of years.

“I wish all those celebrating over the Bank Holiday weekend a wonderful time, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for blue skies and bright sunshine!”

The Town Council’s are also holding special events over the Bank Holiday, with food, drink, and entertainment available.

They take place in Market Place on Thursday June 2, from noon to 9.30pm.

Warwick Road in Kenilworth on Friday from 11am to 4pm, and Leamington Pump Room Gardens on the Saturday from 11am to 6pm.
