Lidl plans for Warwick Homebase site rejected

Ian Hughes 4th Mar, 2020   0

PLANS for a new Lidl supermarket in Warwick have been rejected over increased traffic concerns.

The German supermarket chain submitted plans for a new store on Emscote Road on the site of the former Homebase store.

The proposal included demolishing the old building.

But a number of residents complained about the proposal fearing it would add to congestion on the already traffic-choked main route between Warwick and Leamington.

Lidl has a store on the Myton Road in Leamington.

Warwick District Council plans committee refused the applications last night.
