CHEF and blogger Paul James, who writes the popular ‘Recipes From My Travels’ newspaper column, has released his latest recipe book aimed at helping more adults cook with their children or grandchildren.

‘The Grandfather, my grandad is the best chef in the world’ has been published by Shieldcrest and follows on from Paul’s previous books ‘Recipes From My Travels, Great Britain and Cornwall edition one’, ‘New York New York’ and ‘Recipes From My Kitchen’.

He said: “As a retired chef I personally believe children should be encouraged with the help of an adult, from an early age to know the basics of cooking – after all its an important part of life, just as paying your bills and going out to work.

“I was lucky enough to have one of the world’s best chefs and TV celebrity ‘Cyrus Todiwala’ write a foreword for the book, plus

I’ve had many messages of support from personalities from all walks of life which also included in my book.”

The book came about after Paul’s granddaughter Freya told her teacher her grandad was the best chef in the world.

Her teacher corrected her and said: ‘Oh, you mean grandfather’ and she replied with ‘no, I mean grandad’.

Paul enlisted the help of his own three grandchildren to help him with his latest offering.

With the book now out, Paul is planning on visiting libraries, book shops, radio stations and local schools to promote it and to highlight the importance of children cooking from a very young age. He is also hoping to hold some cooking workshops in schools either in person (Covid permitting) or virtually.

Paul’s website and blogs are aimed at helping promote the hospitality and tourism industry, along with local businesses.

He is also a community champion with Alcohol Change UK, with his main aim to highlight the stigma in society to illnesses such as alcohol, drug and other substance abuse especially in the hospitality industry in the UK.

He actively helps colleagues in the hospitality industry affected by depression and suicidal thoughts as the sector is among the highest percentage of professions in the UK which suffer these issues.

He will also be helping The British liver trust on a new collaboration in early 2022.
