Police treat Ryton attack as attempted murder

POLICE are treating attacks following a series of car crashes in Ryton as attempted murder.

Armed police sealed off roads in Ryton-on-Dunsmore on Tuesday (October 16) after two men suffered head and neck injuries when they were attacked with knives after several cars were involved in a smash on the A445 Leamington Road.

The men, in their 30s, were taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Two vehicles involved in the crash –  including a white Audi – drove off and were involved in two further crashes – on the A423, and at the roundabout where it meets the A445. Police subsequently found both vehicles.




A 20-year-old man from Middlesex and a 24-year-old man from London who were both arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm remain in police custody.

Det chief ins Jon Belcher said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are currently treating this an isolated and targeted incident.”We will have officers carrying out additional patrols in the area while we investigate the incident and if anyone has any concerns, please speak with them.


“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incidents or who may have any information – no matter how insignificant – to please come forward. We would also ask anyone who was driving in the area and who may have dashcam footage of the incident to please get in touch.”
