Kenilworth masters of the pool at annual Midlands Masters Swimming Championships

KENILWORTH Masters Swimming Club won medals galore at the annual Midlands Masters Swimming Championships, held at The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Sports Centre in Rugby.

The club racked up an enviable medal haul between the 32 swimmers that took part in the games, competing in 131 events.

In all, the club won 58 individual golds, 15 silvers and 10 bronze medals, whilst 20 relay teams from Kenilworth entered and claimed top three places in each event – adding a further 11 golds, eight silvers and one bronze.

Trevor Clarke provided the stand-out performance of the Championships from a Kenilworth perspective, setting a new Great British record in the over-65 age group with a time of 1:15:27 in the 100m individual medley – six tenths faster than the previous record.

Following their successful showing at the Championships, Kenilworth Masters are in a strong position ahead of the British Masters Short Course Championships in October – with the aim of setting further British records firmly in the club’s sights.

Kenilworth Masters Swimming Club welcome swimmers of all ages and abilities, and provide coaching for masters swimmers, in both competitive and non-competitive disciplines.
