Training never smelled sweeter for apprentices

CARPENTRY and joinery apprentices have given Leamington’s geranium trains a facelift.

Moreton Morrell College were commissioned to repair the flower boxes which are filled each year with flowers grown from plugs planted by schoolchildren.

But tutor Russell Harrison saw the old trains were beyond repair so he and the college’s apprentices designed and built a new set of engines and carriages.

He said: “There are two engines and 28 carriages so it’s been a lot of extra work for the apprentices, but they are a great group and have thrown themselves into it. We can’t wait to see the final trains painted up at Jephson Gardens and the station.”
