Photographer's work praised by critics including Jay Rayner

THE WORK of a budding photographer in Leamington stood out to judges among thousands of entries in a worldwide competition.

Three of Hamish Scott-Brown’s images were praised by the panel which included food critic Jay Rayner in the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year Award.

Two of his entries Father to Son, and Over Fished and Now Unemployed, were among the shortlisted pictures in the ‘Politics of Food’ category, while his Farmer with His Flock was listed in the ‘Bring Home the Harvest’ category.

Spokesman Andy Macdonald said: “The competition was fiercer than ever. There were over 8,400 images entered internationally and the standard was phenomenal.

“Hamish’s shots stood out in both categories, however, for the way in which he made the subject matter both arresting and beautiful.”
