FREE blood pressure checks in Warwick aim to help reduce the number of strokes.
Warwick Rotary teamed up with nurses from Leycester House care home and NHS Stroke Unit at Warwick Hospital to host the tests in Warwick Market Place.
Shoppers took five minutes out of their day to get their blood pressure checked, to ensure they were not one of the seven million people in the UK with undiagnosed high blood pressure.
Mayor Christine Cross was the first in the chair to be checked.
Keeping blood pressure under control can reduce the risk of stroke – which happens when the blood supply to the brain is cut off, caused by a clot or bleeding in the brain. Stroke occurs over 100,000 times a year in the UK and it is one of the largest causes of disability.
