Much-loved nursing home resident celebrates 100th birthday

Leamington Editorial 11th Sep, 2017   0

A NURSING home in Leamington blew up the party balloons as Muriel Borman celebrated her 100th birthday.

Muriel has lived through two world wars, seen dozens of prime ministers come and go, and lived in a time without the internet, transatlantic flights, the NHS and toasters.

Originally from Kent, Muriel spent the majority of her life in Priors Marston, before moving to Homewood care home in Leamington.

She worked as a nurse and matron for many years, and volunteered as a Red Cross nurse during WW2.

Muriel celebrated her special day with a traditional afternoon tea party, attended by staff, residents, friends and family.

Homewood spokeswoman Jackie Tudor said: “All birthdays are special but 100 demands a true celebration!

“Muriel is loved by both residents and staff alike, and we were all honoured to mark the occasion with her.”
