A WAR memorial was revamped in time to mark the centenary commemorations of the First World War.
Princethorpe Cemetery’s memorial was taken apart and cleaned along with being fitted with a new oak cross thanks to a £3,750 donation from the Grants for War Memorials Scheme.
The newly-renovated memorial was the focus for a Remembrance Sunday service led by Father Teddy O’Brien.
He said: “As parish priest responsible for the cemetery and the war memorial in it I am delighted and grateful to receive this grant from the War Memorial Trust.
“This made possible the restoration of the memorial in time for a re-dedication ceremony on November 11. The ceremony mirrored that which was composed for the dedication of the memorial in 1922 and will serve as a reminder of the values that underpinned the erection of the memorial in the first place.”
The War Memorials Trust is calling for anyone who knows of a memorial which needs work to get in touch.
