McDonalds looks set to open despite strong opposition

MCDONALDS looks set to open in Warwick despite strong opposition.

Warwick District Council looks set to approve an application to build a drive-thru restaurant at the same site as Tesco supermarket on Emscote Road.

It will be built on the shop car park and have parking for around 40 customers.

The application received hundreds of objections with many concerned about the detrimental effects the takeaway will have on health and the proximity to local schools.

Warwick Town Council also voiced concerns about increased traffic on nearby roads, insufficient parking and noise disturbance to neighbouring properties.

There were 22 letters of support received with some saying the burger restaurant would attract people to the area and there was already a local litter problem which could be improved.
