THE RAINBOW flag has been flying at Myton School in support of gay pride month.
Throughout June the school has been flying the rainbow flag following a request from Hero – its lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender support group.
More than 40 students are members of the group, which aims to spread awareness and challenge homophobic language.
School headteacher Andy Perry said: “The simple message of Hero is that some people are gay, some are straight, some are bi and some are trans – get over it. I can’t express enough how delighted I am, as are the school governors and all the staff, to see the changes in school culture due to this group.”
