LONG-TIME friends are hoping to meet up again soon.
One World Link (OWL) – a friendship organisation between Warwick district and Bo District in Sierra Leone – had to put on hold plans to celebrate its 40th anniversary last year owing to the pandemic.
OWL’s recent online AGM saw members from both districts update on-going activities – schools links, planning development and health.
And they were joined at the AGM by an Australian charity which raises money for a children’s hospital in Bo. Margaret Lemoh from the Bo Children’s Hospital Trust took part in the meeting via the Zoom link.
Leamington mayor Susan Rasmussen also spoke at the meeting and has created a fund to help OWL celebrate its belated anniversary.
OWL chair Richard Hall, speaking after the AGM, said: Plans in the past year had to be put on hold but he looked forward to the possibility of exchange visits taking place in the coming year.”
“The ability to hold meetings between friends in Africa, Europe and Australia had been a real positive arising out of the difficulties of last year.”
