Aggers and Tuffers at the Leamington Spa Centre crease

CRICKET fans are invited to spend An Evening with Aggers & Tuffers at Leamington’s Spa Centre.

Former England spin bowler turned broadcaster Phil Tufnell teams-up with his Test match Special colleague Jonathan Agnew to mull over cricketing matters on September 22.

Tuffers was the bad boy of English cricket in the 1990s, but the best spinner – left-arm or otherwise – as well.

He was known as The Cat because of his love of dressing-room naps and, rarely seen without a beer and a fag,

Tufnell has always been something of a folk hero. Since retiring, he has carved out a successful TV career, appearing in reality shows such as I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here and Strictly Come Dancing and he is Matt Dawson’s opposing team captain on the BBC’s long-running quiz series A Question of Sport.

This will be a fascinating, entertaining, no-holds-barred evening for cricket fans and non-lovers of the game alike and there will be an opportunity for the audience to tweet Aggers with their own questions.

The event is being run in aid of the Professional Cricketers Association to raise funds for the organisation’s Benevolent Fund.

Tickets are £25, and there will also be a Meet & Greet at an additional £25 (booked separately).

* POETRY lovers are invited to Afternoon Tea with Wendy Cope at the Spa Centre on September 24.

The poet will do a recital either side of tea – from her collections Two Cures for Love and the recent Family Values – and will join the audience for tea and cake during the interval in the balcony bar, and will be signing books afterwards.

Tickets, priced £13 (includes tea and cake in balcony bar).

Visit for tickets and further details on both shows.
