Fairport Convention folk-rocking it to Stratford in new year

FAIRPORT Convention will be stopping off in Stratford next year with a special guest on the drummer’s stool.

The legendary folk-rockers will play The Playhouse on Saturday March 4 as part of their Winter 2023 UK Tour.

Dave Mattacks will be taking up residence back on the drum stool he vacated in 1998. Mattacks was Fairport’s longstanding drummer throughout most of the 70s, 80s and 90s. His drumming skills have been in demand ever since, contributing to numerous studio recordings by the likes of Paul McCartney, Elton John and Brian Eno.

The 2023 will see Fairport mark 56 years in the business, during which they have received a string of accolades including the coveted BBC Lifetime Achievement Award, while Radio 2 listeners voted their seminal album Liege & Lief ‘The Most Influential Folk Album of All Time’.
