FOLK and film come together in Coventry and Warwickshire Youth Orchestra’s spring concert.
Film themes like Howard Shore’s ‘Lord of the Rings’, and Elfman’s‘Spiderman’, can be heard alongside a range of folk music from Vaughan Williams, George Butterworth and Gustav Mahler, as well as sea shanties and other folk music, at Leamington’s Holy Trinity Church on Saturday (March 18).
The 30 strong orchestra has just welcomed new conductor, Joe Davies, who took up the baton in January. He currently conducts the Leamington Sinfonia, Worcester
Philharmonic, and Midland Concert Orchestra, and has a strong record of working with youth orchestras, choirs and other music groups.
The concert will also feature soprano soloist Madeleine Davis.
Madeleine began singing from a young age and has a passion for music and the performing arts. Now 14, she attends Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA) and is a member of the National Youth Choir Great Britain (NYCGB) and Coventry Youth Choir.
The concert at the Beauchamp Church starts at 7pm. Tickets cost £12.50 (£7.50 concessions) available online at www.trybooking.co.uk/CDMD. Family tickets are also available. A limited number of tickets will be available on the door.
Young people who play an instrument can attend the concert free of charge by emailing [email protected] in advance and a ticket will be reserved
for them.
