Foundry Wood welcomes Idle Women

Leamington Editorial 30th May, 2017 Updated: 2nd Jun, 2017   0

FOUNDRY Wood in Leamington will be welcoming various performers this summer.

The season opens with river-roaming theatre company Alarum’s Idle Women of the Wartime Waterways.

Travelling around the country on their historic narrowboat, they will moor up near the woods on Friday June 2 to tell the tale of the women who worked on narrowboats during the Second World War. Admission is free, but book places in advance as space is limited.

Other plays visiting the woodland this summer include outdoor theatre company Dizzy O’Dare’s Baba Yaga’s House on July 29, Mikron Theatre’s Hike Through the History of Hostelling on August 6, and Heartbreak Productions’ A Secret Garden on August 23.

Chair of the Foundry Wood, Kristie Naimo, said: “We are excited to welcome four very different theatre companies to the wood this year, and hope there’ll be something for everyone!”
