ORGANISERS of a music festival are hoping to hit the right notes while raising money for charity.
The Grist Mill in Sydenham is once again hosting ‘Gristfest’ – a four day family festival to raise money for local disability support group Rest Stop.
The free festival starts on Friday April 29 with a disco and charity auction and will run until Monday May 2.
There will be some 30 bands and artists of all musical genres performing over the course of the weekend, along with a funfair, barbecue, bouncy castle and even a gunge tank.
The money raised will go to the Rest Stop – an organisation working to open a wheelchair-friendly play centre.
Spokeswoman Leanne Taylor said: “We want to open an accessible special needs and family play centre which caters for all needs and abilities. There will be something for all the kids – from sensory rooms to a nature area – and respite sessions for parents and carers.
“The big idea is to create an environment where young wheelchair users can play freely together with their families.”
