THERE’S an international flavour to forthcoming gigs at Temperance in Leamington.

Canadian singer-songwriter Suzie Ungerleider plays the Bath Street venue on June 25.

She received her third nomination for a Juno Award – Canada’s most prestigious music awards – for most recent album My Name is Suzie Ungerleider, her first since the artist formerly known as Oh Susanna announced she would now record and perform under her birth name.

Her brand of alt country, distinguished by her emotive voice and fierce songwriting, has won her many fans during a career spanning a quarter of a century.

Dutch guitarist BJ Baartmans will be joining her on the road for their first tour together since the pandemic.

And Australian singer-songwriter Nigel Wearne returns to the UK this summer and he can be seen and heard at Temperance on July 25.

Hailing from Gunditjmara country in the deep south of Oz, he’s a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist with diverse influences such as Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Gillian Welch.

Blending blues, folk and Americana-noir, he has two albums under his belt – Black Crow and Drawing Circles – on which he sings about everything from human frailty to the cosmos.

He’s toured widely in his homeland, and further afield in New Zealand, the UK, USA and Canada and performed at a long list of music festivals,
