JESUS Christ Superstar is brought to the stage in Leamington by Spa Opera next week.
The hit 1971 musical – the earliest collaboration between Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice – can be seen at the Spa Centre from Tuesday (October 20) to Saturday October 24
Essentially a rock opera, it tells the story of the last seven days of Jesus’s life through songs including I Don’t Know How to Love Him, Everything’s Alright, Gethsemane, & Superstar.
“The show is not so much about Jesus, but more about people’s reactions to him as a figure of hope and to his approach” said director Kenny Robinson. “I’m aiming for a performance that has both intensity and vigour in equal measure for this iconic show and with a cast that is close to 45, I hope it will be a big, high-energy production for Spa Opera.”
Performances take place at 7.30pm nightly, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
