REVIEW: The Red Lion - Claverdon

Leamington Editorial 13th Oct, 2022 Updated: 13th Oct, 2022   0

We love promoting great local businesses. This week we found the Red Lion, a wonderful, dog friendly pub and restaurant in Claverdon.

Review by Gemma Roberts-Hindle – Sales Account Manager at Bullivant Media.

Nestled away in the village of Claverdon on the outskirts of Henley in Arden you will find the Red Lion.

My friends and I were lucky enough to stumble upon this beautiful pub a few weeks ago after deliberating where to go locally.

We are absolutely spoilt for choice living in Henley in Arden and surrounded by amazing eateries, The Red Lion is no exception and after hearing through the grapevine that they had gained a chef from the Crabmill in Preston Baggott (another favourite haunt of ours) it was a no brainer to try it out.

On arrival we were welcomed by Karl who showed us to our table… (pre booked to avoid disappointment).

We sat down and immediately noticed the lovely surroundings inside and a beautiful seating area outside, which we will no doubt have to try out soon!

Karl gave us menus and I was pleased to see some of my favourites like Belly Pork and Colcannon Mash, Various Steaks, Fish, Pies and also well catered for Vegetarian and Vegan options. It’s a really well put together, seasonal menu that appealed to all three of us.

I decided to go for a Rib Eye Steak with Stilton Sauce. It was cooked to perfection and accompanied perfectly with a glass of Rioja, upon Karls recommendation.

The ambiance of The Red Lion is really elegant with a touch of traditional and we will most definitely be making this our new regular meet up venue.

I’m looking forward to spending some cold winter nights in the warmth and surroundings of The Red Lion and I love that it’s dog friendly. It even has a dog station where you can help yourself to treats for your pooch!

I’ve since heard it’s also a popular pitstop for cyclists – always a sign of a great pub as news travels fast in the cycling community of where to go apparently.

For the ale connoisseurs, they also proudly use a local brewery (Church Farms) and they even use fresh fruits, herbs and vegetables from their garden in their cooking. A great sign of a proper British pub!

I almost forgot to mention pudding… As usual I chose something Chocolatey and it was incredible that is all I am saying. I’ll leave the rest to your imaginations and if you do order the something Chocolatey be sure to tell them it was upon my recommendation.

To be honest, you’ll probably see me there as The Red Lion is my new go to!
