Slimming World helped Kieron find a whole new life

WHEN Kieron Dunne first stepped into the Slimming World group at St John’s Church Hall in Kenilworth for the Tuesday 9:30am session, he didn’t know he was about to change his life. At 49, he arrived feeling unfit, frustrated, and more than a little unsure of himself. But he also arrived with something powerful: a reason.

That reason was his son, Ryan.

One afternoon, Ryan excitedly announced he was ready to learn how to ride his bike. It should have been a simple, joyful milestone. But when Kieron realised he couldn’t jog alongside his son without getting desperately out of breath, the truth hit him harder than any fall off a bike ever could.

“It was a bit embarrassing, to be honest,” he laughs. “I thought, I’m 49—I should be able to run beside my own son without needing medical assistance! That was the moment I knew something had to change.”

And everything did.

A Transformation Fueled by Support—and a Good Sense of Humour

Fast-forward to today: Kieron is 10 stone lighter, bursting with energy, and—most importantly—a very proud dad. After months of commitment to Slimming World’s Food Optimising plan and the unwavering support of his group, he finally got to sprint alongside Ryan as he pedalled independently. “That moment made every tough day worth it. We did it together.”

But Kieron’s journey has also been shaped by the little victories that don’t always get headlines but mean everything in everyday life. Things like being able to park in any space in a car park, instead of carefully picking the end of a row so he could open his door wide enough to get out.

“I used to park like it was a military strategy,” he jokes. “Now I can slip into a space like a normal person. It’s the little things that show you just how far you’ve come.”

Week by week, he discovered that losing weight didn’t mean going hungry. Slimming World showed him how to enjoy generous, satisfying meals while building healthier habits and confidence. The group’s encouragement helped him through the tough bits; their celebrations lifted the good ones even higher.

A New Chapter: From Slimming World Member to Consultant

Now 50, Kieron isn’t just celebrating his personal success—he’s preparing to share it.

Inspired by the support that helped him transform his life, has trained to become a Slimming World Consultant. Soon, he’ll be welcoming new members into his own group in Leamington, offering the same warmth, understanding, and encouragement that changed his own life.

“Joining Slimming World changed everything for me,” he says. “Now I want to help others discover what they’re capable of. If I can lose 10 stone at 50, anyone can achieve their goals with the right support.”

With his relatable story, positive attitude, and natural ability to make people feel welcome, Kieron is perfectly placed to guide others through their own journeys—celebrating not just the weight loss, but the everyday triumphs that make life brighter.

Thinking of Starting Your Own Journey?

Kieron will soon be opening the doors to his brand-new Slimming World group in Leamington, where he’s ready to offer support, share his experience, and celebrate every win—big or small.

If you’re looking for a friendly, understanding group where real-life, sustainable results happen every single week, keep an eye out for the launch of Kieron’s group. He can’t wait to help others discover the confidence, health, and happiness that Slimming World has brought to his life.

“If you’re even thinking about joining,” Kieron says, “take that step. If I can do it, you absolutely can too.”
